Star Trek: More popular than ever


The new Star Trek reboot has been greenlit for a sequel before it's even out in theaters. This sequel will be written by the same people doing the first one, and scheduled to be written and submitted by christmas.

iTunes variable pricing


Certain songs on iTunes will now be sold at $1.29, while others will be sold for 69¢. This variable pricing model makes more money on better songs, while making songs that do poorly possibly sell better.

Rockband hits $1,000,000,000 mark

Rock Band, the mammoth rhythm/music gaming franchise from Harmonix/MTV Games/EA, has topped the billion dollar mark in sales, according to the people who make the game. This number includes the hardware, software, and downloadable content that you can purchase for Rock Band, and comes at the 15 month mark in the game's life cycle.

iPhone 3.0 SDK


The iPhone has gone 3.0, at least to developers. The SDK went live, and brought with it features such as Copy/Paste, In-App purchasing, and MMS messaging.

For quite a while now there have been iPhone prototypes available on ebay, and while they were basic (Apparently only designed to test the hardware), they did function. However, they looked like someone put windows mobile in a blender with an iPod.

Pot makes you suck at games, says Uncle Sam


"Getting high affects your brain in ways that may directly influence your gaming ability," says the government's latest above the influence videos. These videos (which feature elves who are telling you to smoke less pot, instead of the usual kind) bring a much needed sense of realism to the war on drugs. I could believe that Drugs make me suck at games far more than I'd believe my brain is an egg on a frying pan.
